Taumeasina Resort gears up for big opening

The Taumeasina Island Resort is set to be officially opened on 1 July 2016.

And with just three weeks away before the grand opening, the Management and team are preparing both their workers and members of the public for the event.

On Wednesday, Taumeasina hosted a corporate dinner for members of the public to enjoy and taste of what to expect from the Resort when it opens.

Held at the Taumeasina Hideaway, guests were treated to some of the special dishes and cocktails that will be served at the Resort.

Moreover, the dinner was also an opportunity for the employees to prepare themselves for the opening of the Resort, said Cecilia Frost- Nasau, Sales and Marketing Manager for Taumeasina Resort.

“This is an opportunity to train our workers and to help them be confident around people before our opening in July,” said Mrs. Nasau.

“Tonight is not only to give our guests a taste of what will be offered at Taumeasina Resort, but it’s also an opportunity for our workers to experience what it’s like to meet different people and be comfortable around them.”

According to Mrs. Nasau, most of the people they have hired and trained for the resort are inexperienced in terms of hospitality and serving people, so the dinner provided an opportunity for them to learn and prepare themselves for the opening of the resort.

The workers have also put together a dance group to provide entertainment for the guests, and on Wednesday night, the guests were treated to a variety of entertainment from the new dance group.

“We were thinking of hiring a different dance group for the resort, but then most of the workers we’ve hired already are very talented, so we thought of putting them together to make a dance group for the resort. And tonight will be the first time they will perform in front of a crowd as a group, and we want them to be confident enough to perform so that when we officially open, they won’t be nervous anymore.”

Mrs. Nasau did not want to reveal all the secret recipes and special dishes that will be available once the resort will be opened. However, she confidently said that Taumeasina will offer something new and different for the people of Samoa.

“Tonight, we will be serving some of our special dishes and cocktails. And our plan is to give our guest a little taste of what to expect from us, so that they would want to come back for more once we open.”

The Executive Chef for the Taumeasina Island Resort, Brad Martin, uttered that Taumeasina will offer nothing but the best to its guest and the people of Samoa once it’s open.

“We are combining the traditional food of Samoa together with some of the western dishes, and it’s going to be great,” said Brad Martin from Australia.

“Always have high expectations because we are working really hard at the moment to bring the best services, food and drinks for the people of Samoa and also our guests.”

Brad is on a contract for two years with the Taumeasina, and while in Samoa, he is training some of our local workers on how to handle all the pressure especially at the kitchen.

“I’ve been working with some of the local workers here at the resort and I’ve shared some experiences and knowledge with them. They are hard working people and they are always hungry for more knowledge and are always eager to learn. And I am hoping that after the two years I have here in Samoa, some of them will step up and take leadership at the kitchen and carry out the great work and service for the resort.

“And tonight, I’ve been really impressed with how well they serve and take care of the guests and I think that this dinner was a great chance for them to practice and to put the trainings and knowledge they’ve learned into action. And we are excited for the opening.”
