Last Friday was the opening of the Business Systems Limited (B.S.L.) Australia Open Primary Programme, I.T.F. school tennis competition for 2017.

Seven schools were involved, and the programme is run each Friday at Apia Park.

Business Systems Limited is the major sponsor and this is the second year the programme has taken place.

As well as introducing the game to young children, the programme also fosters those who are already familiar with tennis and want to develop their skills further.

“We are very happy to support this tournament not only to help the young players of tennis, but also to motivate them to try hard for the future. Some of them may become athletes representing Samoa in the Pacific and worldwide,” said the Marketing Manager, Leeroy  Feaumati.

“Prizes will be provided for every student who takes part in the events with our aim that this will create younger talented players of tennis to join and develop their tennis games in Samoa.”

Yvonne Carruthers of Tennis Samoa has put together the tournament and BSL provides the prizes and covers the administration costs.
