A 26 year old father of one, Ve’a Fa’afetai was found dead at his home last Saturday morning at Aele.
Meanwhile, the deceased man’s cousin, Fa’amasino, with whom he had spent part of Friday evening with, is in hospital with serious injuries to his head.
An attempt to get a comment from the Police was unsuccessful but a family member related the chain of events leading up to Saturday morning’s discovery.
“The day before Vea was found dead, he and his cousin, Fa’amasino had finished work at about six o’clock in the evening,” the family member said.
“They both (Ve’a and Fa’amasino), came home drunk after work."
“After having something to eat, we told them to go and have a shower, rest and sleep because we already knew that they had had too much to drink."
“Then Fa’amasino went to have a shower while Ve’a was still at the front of the house talking to one of our aunties from Australia...a few minutes later we saw Ve’a hop into a taxi."
“When Fa’amasino finished showering, he found that his bag was missing so he followed Ve’a.”
The family member told Samoa Observer that when Fa’amasino got to where Ve’a was, he and some others were now drinking; he swore at Ve’a.
“That was when Ve’a allegedly knifed him, causing serious injuries to his head."
“Fa’amasino was admitted to the hospital at about 8pm that same night."
“Sadly, early Saturday morning at about 6am, one of our neighbours contacted us to tell us that Ve’a had been found dead at his home not far away from where we live, at the other side of our village."
“The sad thing, is that he was the only one at home."
“When we got there, he was lying face down."
“The police were called and when they got to his home, they were unable to find any serious injuries on his body; just a few bruises on his right hand."
“So I think the matter is still being investigated and hopefully they’ll come up with the cause of his death."
“As of today, we don’t have any information; we are waiting on the police.”
