The National University of Samoa (N.U.S) has a new Director of Finance.

Confirmed by Vice Chancellor Professor Fui Asofou So’o, he is Faamatuainu Faamasani Asi, who was the University’s Senior Finance Accountant from 2012-2015 and then the Assistant Director within the Financial Services Division from 2015.

“We need a very good person who knows the ins and outs of money in the country and in the university,” said Professor Fui.

“We need someone who knows how to keep the money and when to give it out; so I officially appointment Faamatuainu as our new director of finance.”

The former director of finance is now one of two deputy Vice Chancellors of N.U.S.

“I am very humbled and thankful for the opportunity that was awarded to me to be the new director for financial services,” Faamatuainu said.

“I would like to thank the council and also the vice chancellor as well as the N.U.S management for trusting me with this position in the financial division.”

Fa’amatuainu is ready to take on this tough task.

“I know it will be a challenging job for me and my team but I believe in my team and all the personnel that we have at N.U.S finance to be able to provide support for our core function and our stake holders,” he said.

“We will also try to ensure that N.U.S does not mismanage any money and we will make sure the university operates within our budget, and the allocation we give out to all our stakeholders will be sufficient. “We will also provide full support for our budget holders.”
