Twenty-two players have secured contracts to be part of the Manu Samoa 7s team at the 2017 and 2018 I.R.B. World Sevens Series.

The announcement was made during the launch of the new I.R.B. World Sevens Series by the Samoa Rugby Union at the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel on Tuesday night.

The 22 players include the 14 tour players who will be competing at the opening round of the World Sevens Series leg in Dubai and Cape Town next month.

Manu Samoa Head Coach Sir Gordon Tietjens is confident of his team.

“I can assure you we have the best team so far after performing in the Silicon Valley 7’s in California as well as the Oceania 7s in Fiji earlier this month.”

From the 22 players, a final squad will be named to represent Samoa throughout the World Sevens Series.

The non-travelling players from the 22 players will also be receiving allowance as part of their contracts.
