A laughable end to Leala’s Tautua
Dear Editor,
Re: Why I’ve switched – Leala
Leala is a turncoat, who rolled over after ten years as a frustrated member of the oppositio n party. Who by his own account, is hell-bent on solving all the issues demanded by his constituency.
The opposition party in Samoa is in existence only, as a training tool for recruiting future members of the current ruling party.
The end of a tenure as a trainee with the opposition party is, a mere form of handshake over a cup of coffee.
An audience with the Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi is held as just a formality of being accepted into the ruling party.
How Lealailepule Rimoni AIafi keep a straight face when talking to both the Prime Minister, and the leader of the opposition party Palusalue Fa’apo II, about jumping ship, after a decade as a member of parliament, I imagined to be laughable.
It is a wonder why the opposition is seen as weak or just don’t exist in Samoa.
