Your life’s work

Think a minute…Vince Foster was appointed by former U.S. President Bill Clinton to an important position in the national government.

Yet not long after he achieved this success, Foster reportedly committed suicide on July 20, 1993.

Just 8 weeks before he killed himself, Foster had been asked to be the speaker to the graduating class of a famous law school.

This is part of his speech to those new graduates: “Remember that no one has ever said on their deathbed: ‘I wish I had spent more time at the office.’

Balance your professional life and your family life wisely. If you are fortunate to have children, your children will grow up and be gone before you know it.

I can testify that is true. God allows us only so many opportunities with our children to read a story, go fishing, play ball, and say our prayers together.

Try not to miss even one of them.”

Now, after Vince Foster’s tragic death, his wise advice to us fathers and mothers continues to speak to us—especially if we have failed to spend the time with our children that we should.

So while you’re climbing the ladder of success, don’t leave your mate and children behind! Those years with your children will be gone in a heartbeat.

We need to do whatever it takes to grab those important, precious moments with our kids, even if it requires changing jobs, getting a smaller house, or turning down a promotion and opportunity for more money. No amount of money, status, power, or popularity is worth losing your kids and their childhood!

You and I were created to work and produce in life.

But the most important work and success you will ever have, is loving and teaching your children to become honest, kind, responsible, happy human beings in love with their loving Creator.

Don’t fail in your life’s work because you are too busy making a living.

Make a life with your children who will carry on your life’s work long after you are gone.

Won’t you ask Jesus to forgive you for your failures as a parent?

Then ask Him to take charge and help you each day to know and do what will help your kids become all that Jesus has created them to be.

Just think a minute…
