There is no love like a mother’s love.

Mothers will always make sure their children receive the best, no matter the circumstances in life.

Meet Ana Kuresa who sells koko esi  to make a living for her and her eight children.

The Village Voice team met Mrs. Kuresa, 48, from the village of Nu’u-fou, selling koko esi around her area with her two young boys.

Talking with the Village Voice team yesterday, Mrs. Kuresa said selling traditional Samoan sweets was their source of income.

“I have been selling for years now and this is where our family gets money from.”

“I sell koko esi every Tuesdays and Wednesdays while I serve Faausi (Samoan food) on Saturdays.”

Mrs. Kuresa said the cost of living in Samoa was very expensive.

“I make $80 on Tuesday and Wednesday and it will only last for two days.”

“Our family comprises 10 people, including my husband and I and our eight children. One already moved out and got married and four are in school at the moment while three others will be in school next year.”

Mrs. Kuresa also shared on her expenses.

“Usually the money I get from selling koko esi is not enough for us but we make sure that we have to get things we need but not what we want.”

Mrs. Kuresa said she enjoyed selling koko esi because it could inspire her children to work hard.

“I want my kids to do well in school and get good jobs because of my hard work to let them enjoy what they want.”
