The foundation of a strong family depends on its members playing their role to love and support each other.

And this is the never ending cycle of life and love.

Uefa Tu’ufao, 67, a grandmother from the village of Faleula-Uta knows this.

Village Voice met Mrs. Tu’ufao while accompanying her two grandchildren to the shop yesterday morning.

Mrs. Tu’ufao said her family was doing great and she loved her daily routine.

“Even though the cost of living here in Samoa is high, our family is just doing great and well,” Mrs. Tu’ufao said.

“I am not working anymore but I carry our household chores like cleaning, washing and cooking.”

Mrs. Tu’ufao shared about her family and how they survived.

“I have one daughter who is working right now and she is the sole provider of our family in terms of purchasing of food and everything we need in our house.”

“Despite the high cost of living, our family is really simple in terms of survival because it’s just six of us in the family and everything is simple.”

She said she does the chores around the house for her own good.

“I have been enjoying doing the chores because I’m used to it and plus it keeps me moving throughout the day.”

“This is how I showed towards my daughter, by doing things here at home even though she doesn’t want me to do anything.”

She added no matter what issues we were facing, the only solution was working together.

“We have seen so many issues around families, but I guess the only solution is for everyone to play their part.”

“If you are not working, then make sure to stay at home and do chores at home, we as families work together so that we can support each other.”
