Resignation letter from a legend

I would like to take this opportunity to announce my retirement from the All Blacks 7s team.

It’s been an awesome ride and I’ve loved every minute of it.

For the continued support from family and friends to the rollercoaster relationship with the fans and general public I salute you.

Thanks to my mate who introduced me to sevens 12 years ago and to my coaches and management, from club right through to the national side, I will be forever grateful for the opportunities you have given me.

To the sponsors and organisations I’ve formed relationships with and my agents that have helped to sort contractual agreements, your time has been invaluable.

To the bunch of men I’ve gone into battle with over the last decade it’s been an absolute pleasure, some lifelong friendships have been gained and I have the utmost respect to all who I’ve trained beside and played with and those who have experienced some time in our 7s family.

I couldn’t have asked for a better job to have been doing up until this point. To my wife and kids, I’m so honoured that you supported me while I pursued my rugby, but today starts our life after footy. I’m looking forward to finishing off my Masters with the goal to one day coach a national side and hopefully explore some job opportunities that may arise to see what else the world has to offer.

Thank you and God Bless.
