Hyundai Samoa has donated $3,000tala to help out with the development and also for uniforms of the Samoa International Cricket yesterday morning at Vaitele.

Hyundai Samoa has been a major supporter of cricket since 2012 and they have provided total sponsorship of $39,550 to date.

This includes the use of the community vehicles up to ten days a month, 50 percent discount for servicing of office vehicles, staff apparel and cash sponsorship.

This support by Hyundai Samoa has helped Samoa International Cricket expand the development and growth of the game in the villages and the community.

In 2015, cricket had an outreach of just 20,000 junior players both in Upolu and Savaii between the ages of 5-18 years old.

Their newly-established junior domestic competition on Saturdays at Tuanaimato cricket grounds saw another milestone achieved through the assistance of Hyundai Samoa.

This is through building and engaging the communities with an U15 Junior Development competition which started with 20 children right up to 150 boys and girls from as far as Fasitoo-tai in the west and Luatuanuu in the east. The young boys and girls in the U15 competition from the ages of 10-14 years old play hard ball cricket where as those below that age category use the plastic gear. General Manager of Samoa International Cricket, Salā Stella Vaea Tagitau accepted the cheque and gratefully acknowledged the support of Hyundai Samoa. “This money will go into the development of the Samoa International Cricket and also for some uniforms,” she said.

“So I want to thank Hyundai Samoa and the Country Manager, Simon Fruean for their continuous support and we are looking forward to working in partnership with you in the long term.”
