Transformation through education

“I have been blessed and I want to share this blessing, give you an opportunity to change your lives through education.”

So said Maria Artango, Connect Plus Learning of Brisbane Australia

She is one of the many visitors that walked through S.V.S.G’s doors on a daily basis with a mission, and the heart, to make a difference in the lives of the children at the Campus of Hope.

Ms. Artango is in the country to set up a private college to teach English.  During a meeting with S.V.S.G President Siliniu Lina Chang, she confirmed the offer of 10 scholarships to the children under the care of S.V.S.G to attend the private school planned for Samoa.

Should they complete these courses, they are eligible to continue studies in Australia.

The goal is for the children to have the opportunity to learn, to be educated and return to Samoa to give back to the community.

Sitting among the children at the Campus, singing, laughing and sharing on the love of God in her life, the children were at ease.  She encouraged the children to pray when feeling sad, when frustrated, when in need of a friend, for God is always there for us.

Ms. Artango ended up cancelling her appointments scheduled for the afternoon to spend time with the children.

The babies at the Nursery were also visited.  With a Chinese, Philippines and Malaysian background, the private school to be set up in the Samoa would be the first in the Pacific.

The children at the Campus of Hope are looking forward to this opportunity to be transformed through education, thanks to Ms. Maria Artango.

S.V.S.G President, Siliniu Lina Chang thanked Ms. Artango for this great opportunity for the children.

The support from Silila Fepuleai and family from Brisbane who accompanied Ms. Artango, was also acknowledged, for it highlighted once again the hearts of our people, that regardless of where they reside, they will open their windows and look towards home to support our people.
