Another fantastic display of youth and experience as two Fire Knife dancers from the Return to Paradise Resort battled it out during Week Eight of the Faletalimalo Siva Afi Challenge.
Twenty two year old Alema Alema matched up against 12-year-old Han Matagi.
Alema and Han are just two of many performers Return to Paradise Resort has trained and supports.
The speed and skill shown by both performers was amazing – and in the end Alema came out as winner in what was a very close challenge.
Alema will now go on to represent Return to Paradise Resort for the remainder of the Challenge.
Kome Feagaimalii was joined by special guest judge, Mrs Ramona Su’a Pale Gilchrist, General Manager of Return to Paradise Resort, to score the Challenge
Ramona said “Thank-you to Claire and Lene.
We are very proud of all our dancers; it would have been great to see all 10 of them perform live at Siva Afi, as they do every Wednesday night at Return to Paradise.
We’re also very grateful to Lene, because our boys are the product of his training and vision, which has now reached as far as our local dancers at Return to Paradise.”
The Faletalimalo Challenge will have two fire dancers from participating Hotels perform at the Siva Afi weekly show on Tuesdays.
The winning fire dancer on that night will then proceed to the next round to compete with a winning fire dancer from another hotel.
The overall winner will be provided automatic entry to the International Siva Afi Competition 2017, which will be held in Apia 30th August – 2nd September.
Only two more elimination rounds remain before the draw for the semifinals.
Next Tuesday, Amoa Resort from Savaii will decide which of their Fire Knife Dancers will proceed to the finals of the Faletalimalo Siva Afi Challenge.
