Football Federation Samoa celebrated the International Day of Sports Development and Peace on Saturday at Tuana’imato.

More than 500 young football players turned up to celebrate through the Just Play Programme.

The International Day for Sports Development and Peace is commemorated on 6 April every year.

However Football Federation Samoa‘s Just Play team moved the celebration to Saturday, a day later to maximise participation from young people.

Football Federation Samoa Acting Chief Executive, Lynetta Fa’ai’uaso, said they were thrilled with the turn out.

“We the Football Federation Samoa through our Just Play Programme are really excited to celebrate this International Day of Sports Development and Peace together with our local Youth Football tournament,” she said.

“We are also thrilled with the support from parents and these young Footballers celebrating this Day with us, despite the bad weather.”

Mrs. Fa’ai’uaso stated that the main objective of the programme is to help develop the young football talents in the country. There were many fun activities and prizes give out.
