University lends a hand
The National University of Samoa (N.U.S) has stepped up to offer its support to survivors of Cyclone Winston in Fiji.
For the past few weeks, the University staff, students and supporters have been raising money and collecting clothes for the cyclone-ravaged nation.
On Wednesday, the N.U.S revealed that $4,324.30 cash plus boxes of clothes had been collected.
N.U.S Vice Chancellor, Professor Fui Asofou So’o acknowledged the Fundraising Committee members and students for making the donation possible. He added that the Fundraising Committee decided to channel the donation for Fiji via their six staff members who have families in Fiji. Most of them had families in the badly affected areas.
The staff members included Seumanu Gauna Wong, Ateca Silatolu, Susau Solomona, Prof Silafau Sina Vaai, Chris Gounder and Lineta Tamanikaiyaroi.
In response, Mrs. Tamanikaiyaroi thanked the Vice Chancellor and the University for their generosity. She said they would relay the well wishes from the N.U.S to the people of Fiji.
Equally grateful is Ateca Silatolu.
A native of Rakiraki, she said the financial support would be most welcome by her families.
