MISSING: One passenger door on a pickup.

MISSING: One passenger door on a pickup.

There is a simple explanation for this.

So said the owner of this white double cab truck whose vehicle was photographed by a concerned member of the public while travelling along the Vaitele road, heading towards Vaiusu last week.

The vehicle attracted attention when it was travelling without a door on the passenger’s side.

“It drove past several L.T.A. officers who didn’t seem to care,” the member of the public said.

“I know the vehicle may still be drivable, but an accident could easily occur with the passenger beside the open doorway. This is stupid.”

After the photographed appeared in Monday’s paper, the owner visited the Samoa Observer on Tuesday.

“What happened is that another vehicle ran into my truck and it left a dent on the door,” he said.

“So on that morning, I had just returned from Apia where I had taken my car to get fixed. The door was removed and it was being fixed when I decided to go home to get something.”

The owner said he had been contacted by the Land Transport Authority but the matter has now been sorted.
