The need to get away to find somewhere beautiful and quiet to mourn the passing of a loved and to reflect on his life brought one Australian family to Samoa.

And although the weather could have been better, Fiona Delisle and her children are so happy with their experience they have vowed to come back.

This is the family’s first time in Samoa. They are here not just for a family vacation but also to get away from Australia after the passing of Fiona’s husband recently.

“My husband passed away a little while ago so we just wanted to get away and to escape to a beautiful destination,” she said.

According to Mrs. Delisle, her children did a bit of research about their next holiday destination.

They chose Samoa.

“The children found it,” she said. “They did a bit of research and we have been to a few Asian islands and so they wanted to try a different one and they chose Samoa.”

So what’s their verdict so far?

Beautiful, they say. Not just the country but also the people whom they say have made their stay in Samoa much more comfortable.

“We love spending time here in Samoa,” she said.

“The people are very beautiful and friendly which is a very good thing. There is a lot of amazing gardens and flowers.”

Mrs. Delisle said they would love to come back to Samoa. She said they are mostly impressed by the beautiful Samoans who have made their stay so wonderful.

“We talked last night with my children about coming back and we’d love to be back in the island some day.”

That day cannot come soon enough.
