The Penrith R.S.L. Rugby Club U16 team is in Samoa for a tour.

The Club boasts big names such as Christian Leali’ifano, Will Skelton, Scott Sio, Matt Tomua and few Samoans who have played for Australia on their history roster so they come with a reputation.

This is the first time the Penrith R.S.L. Rugby Club has toured the islands with a total group of 47, consisted of student staff and parents.

Coordinator of the tour Molesi Alefosio said they are excited to be in Samoa.

“I guess the main purpose of our tour to Samoa is to help and assist the development of Rugby not just for the Samoan boys but to our boys as well,” he said.

“Right now back in Australia it’s our off season but we are happy to get this chance to play rugby against the best secondary schools here in Samoa”.

Alefosio said it’s great to bring the team to his homeland.

“It took us six months planning and preparing for this trip and we had some problems choosing which island to tour but we are glad we came here to my country,” he said.

“We are also here to learn about the culture and try to establish friendship between our club and also the Schools here in Samoa”.

The team arrived in Samoa last week and immediately explored the Island of Savaii.

“We came last week and went straight to Savai’i and went around there, and we had a friendly game against the Vaiola College team”.

They then played St. Joseph’s College on Wednesday and concluded their friendly games against U16 Rugby Champions in Samoa Leiififi College, yesterday.
