Ensuring everyone has access to water should be a top priority.

So says Faamaoni Liu of Tufulele who is calling for help to access water.

The 39-year-old said he’s had a tough time for three years because of having no water.

“We used to have water but ever since the government had some road works on our side, they had dug up everything and it affected our water pipes. It has put a stop to it apparently.

“So our access to water has been cut because of their work and now we’re just waiting on them if they are going to fix it again.

“But you know, it has been too long, three years is a long time and we need our water back.

“I have 3 children and that’s why we need this, without water blessings from the rain; we have to walk all the way to this other family down from us, to fetch water and even take baths there.

“Sometimes if we have no help at all, then the man I work for at Aleisa helps us by supplying us with water and I’m thankful for all his help.”

Fa’amaoni works as a gardener for him and this has been his job for a long time.

“If it was a matter of money, I would pay the fee needed because I know how important water is for people but no, it’s just a matter of waiting for the government to do their job.

“It’s difficult and at the same time, a very sad life to try and survive without water access, I have little children to worry about because water is life for every living thing.

“My family needs our water back, and we deserve to get the help we need.

“So I’m just humbly asking the government to help me on this.

“Life is not okay without it.”
