Deidre Fanene hit the streets to ask some of our citizens and voters who they saw as a potential leader in the coming General Elections and why they would be suitable. Here are their responses:

I believe Fonotoe Pierre Lauofo would be the best person for the position if for some reason Tuilaepa will not return. He has been beside Tuilaepa for five years and I’m sure by now, he would have learned all the techniques and have the understanding on how to lead the country. So that is why I think he is the only person that would suit the position after Tuilaepa.

I think that if not Tuilaepa, Fiame Naomi Mataafa is the best person for the position. We have seen the men taking over but we have never seen a woman come to this position and yet we always talk about gender equality so I think it’s time to give the women the chance.

I believe the Deputy Prime Minister at the moment is the person for the position if it’s not Tuilaepa. He has the knowledge to do everything because he has been in the government for such a long time, and also Tuilaepa must’ve shown him everything and taught him everything that he needs to know in running the government.

If not Tuilaepa, then Fiame Naomi, because she has been in the government for such a long time. Her ancestors were in the government as well so I believe that she has the knowledge to do the job the right way. We also need to see some changes.

Definitely Fonotoe, nobody else because he has been there for so long he would know everything. I know Tuilaepa will again be the Prime Minister but for the next person I would highly recommend Fonotoe for the job.

There is nobody else good enough for the job except for Tuilaepa. I cannot think of anyone else so I believe that Tuilapea will come back until he retires or when God calls him.
