If you ask  Iliganoa Louisa Young, who happens to be the owner of this small and humble homestead business why this sort of development is in a village outside Apia, her replies will surely knock you off your seat.

Iliganoa has been in the tourism and hospitality industry for most of her adult life and this new venture is the culmination of all those years of learning and passion to serve and share her Samoa and culture of hospitality. She also has another passion and that is making television advertisements and documentaries.

This is the other sideline that she offers but for the sake of this article, we will focus on her hospitality operation.

“I love serving people. Hospitality is much deeper inside me. My father once told me, “Use your brains not your head!” That has transformed me into a go getter type of person. I talk about things and presto, they materialise.

I call it Royalty Lodge and Restaurant because I see all those coming to stay and have food waith me as “royals,” princes and princesses in their own right from all walks of life and in return I garnish them with royalty a la the Samoan way, from utilising the rooms, the various services, the food and most importantly that indigenous family atmosphere that will relax and tone them down naturally the unique Samoan Royalty way!

“Dreams are dreams but you need to work your butt off to transform those dreams into tangible things in life. For quite sometime, I looked around at these resources surrounding me, the land, the house the trees therein and I thought, “how can I transform these into something worthwhile that would utilise my knowledge and the skills that I have gathered throughout life and transform such into something sustainable?”

“What you see now is the transformation of that dream enriched with my own creativity so that it develops itself. Every move is a heartbeat, a pulsating human heart beat, it controls itself thus suffusing it with life of which all of us-working here are a part!”

Royalty Lodge and Restaurant is away from the constant tick-tock of the busy township of Apia. It is located in a village outside Apia called Fa’atoia. Its private location is far from the main road which entails safety and security for its clientele and friends that do frequent the ‘palace” “ I believe Samoa is at the cross roads for developing tourism just as the investment climate is conducive for more interesting things business-wise to look forward to.

The fact that we all help decentralise business into urban and rural areas will assist government support the employment of our own people, thereby bringing business to these areas that do provide tremendous amount of experience for our visitors and locals alike in such a breath taking setting.”

The new venture has 4 rooms now available for homestays including Delux Rooms and Standard Delux rooms which include a Continental breakfast. The facilities are shared two rooms to one.   “The next phase, due to start shortly  will see an additional nine self-contained boutique type units that allow the natural landscape and the contours of this property to portray a  jewel in a crown type setting. It is all part and parcel of our ROYALTY concept! When that day arrives, that would be a very ROYAL day for us all”.

They do have Friday Night Buffet and call it Fiafia Classy Night from 7.30pm to 11.30pm. It is here that you will discover Royalty Lodge and Restaurant’s best kept secret ranging from food and also drinks, especially cocktails.

They also have the audacity to mix local food with western food that will tantalise your royal taste buds. Office/organisations get together, parties or functions can be arranged.  Similarly, family get together/reunions, small weddings and other specialised functions can be  catered for.  They also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
