Children are a blessing

Every single life and every single child is a reward and blessing from God.

And children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands.

That’s the opinion of 53-year-old father, Andrew Tofilau of Fasito’o-tai yesterday when the Village Voice team approached him.

“These are the three main ones in the Bible that shows God wants us to nurture, foster and care for his gift (children) that he has given us,” Andrew said.

“Whether they’re bringing us pride and joy, or whether they are teaching us how to be more patient and forgiving, children are a gift from God and a source for the growth of His Kingdom here on earth.

“That’s why we need to stand as warriors and make sure to focus the arrows (children) to the right direction that we want them to be in the future.”

He believes many challenges exist because we forget that children are a heritage from the Lord.

“As I’ve mentioned earlier, the Bible tells us repeatedly in His word how all children are a gift from God,” he said.

“They are offspring, a reward from him and blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them and parents need to understand this since we have so many problems to deal with, this is mainly because some parents do not understand the value of children.”

Gifts must be preserved and remembered.

“Children are a gift and if someone gives you a gift, there’s no way you would throw it away.

“If you’re a parent or a teacher, it’s your responsibility to groom your child with love and care; I mean our children are totally your responsibility.

“He depends upon you and me with our right guidance, he or she will walk towards the right path and we’ll be able to face the outside world with leadership qualities.”

He added parents should never stop talking to their children.

“We must teach them good sense, tell your child how to share sorrows and happiness, encourage your child on his minor achievements.

“Not only that, but it is also your duty to tell him the difference between right and wrong too, how to deal with that one there and here.

“We parents must groom him as a nice and confident person, teach him how to walk and talk in front of people, teach him the difference between right and wrong, love and hate and honesty,” Andrew said.
