Police Inspector pleads not guilty

Police Inspector Maotaoalii Kaioneta Kitiona appeared in the District Court yesterday. 

Maotaoali’i, who is accused of contempt of Court, appeared before District Court Judge Fepulea’i Ameperosa Roma.

The defendant was represented by lawyer, Donald Kerslake while Iliganoa Atoa appeared on behalf of the National Prosecution Office. 

Mr. Kerslake entered a not guilty plea on behalf of his client.

Judge Fepuleai noted the accused’s not guilty plea and adjourned the matter for hearing on 20 March 2017. 

Police Media Spokesperson, Su’a Lemamea Tiumalu, confirmed that the accused was suspended on the first week of November. 

He said a Police investigation was carried out when a complaint was filed against the Inspector for contempt of court.

The accused is suspended with full pay until his hearing ends.
