Our children gift from God

When you become a parent, your children will always be a priority.

In fact according to Toetu Toala, of Safa’atoa Lefaga, they should be because they are a gift from God.

The 36-year-old father was on his way to do some shopping for his children yesterday for White Sunday.

“Everyone’s busy getting their kids ready for White Sunday,” he tells the Village Voice.

“And they should be because kids mean the world to parents.

“I get that the cost of living is high and sometimes we feel that we are spoiling our kids too much but for me, there’s no harm in that.”

Toetu is a father of two and he told Village Voice that this weekend is all about making his children feel extra special.

“That is the core reason why we work; so that we can give our children a better life and make sure they have everything that they need because in the future they will be the ones working to take care of us parents.

“It is hard and I think no one on earth will always feel like working but we have to and our kids should be our motivation to keep going because if we don’t work for their own good now, who else will?

“I know sometimes it can be a pain and it makes you question your role as a parent but at the end of the day, we have to remind ourselves that they are God’s gift to us.

“There are families out there who are struggling to make a living for their own children and all I can say is; that you are doing a good job and that your hardwork for your children will pay off.

“No problem is too big to be fixed and if we all put our minds into it, our kids will always come out strong and us parents, stronger. That is the way it is.

“Whether you’re poor or rich, how you raise your children will be entirely up to you.”
