Police are still looking for prisoner Va’ai Panapa.

According to the Prisons Spokesperson, Sagaga Galu Frost, they had approached his family at Vailele but they said Panapa has never showed up.

“I think he hasn’t gone that far from the prison,” said Sagaga.

“Because ever since the night he disappeared he is always seen near the prisons but we still can’t catch him.”

Sagaga believes Panapa is aware that he is the most wanted person in the community and he is also aware that everyone is looking for him.

“I think he wanted to come back but he is scared and every time we chased him around we always called out to him to return back.”

He said they had searched the whole area and the whole compound but found no sign of him.

Sagaga believes he could be hiding  in one of the many abandoned houses near the prison compound.

Va’ai Panapa is a 26-year-old male of Vailele.

He was convicted of theft, burglary, breaking and entering and escaping from prison.

The Samoa Prisons and Correctional Services is urging members of the public to please inform any police station nearby or the Tafaigata prison if they have any information about the said prisoner.

Contact the Ministry of Police on phone #22222 or 995  or Tafaigata Prisons on phone # 23516 or 22208. 21008.
