STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS: Steve Alapati.

STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS: Steve Alapati.

Stop comparing yourself to others and start living.

This is the firm opinion of 21 year old Steve Alapati when he was caught up with the Village Voice yesterday.

“Personally I think this is the main problem that we’re facing these days, and it gives us a lot of headaches especially the youths.” Steve Alapati.

“We don’t recognize our own self because we’re too busy comparing ourselves to other people rather than looking for something useful for our lives at this time.

“Like finding a job, going to school and learning as much as we can, obeying our parents and many other good things that we could do to occupy our time.

Steve believes that fast technology on social media has changed many things in the lives of the young ones in Samoa.

“I think that is the problem that many of our youth are influenced in their lives these days and that is really disappointing.

“Personally, I believe that many of us on facebook try to compare ourselves to those rich ones on facebook.

“But we forget that we are loading burdens on our shoulders because we want to look like famous movie stars and rich people but we forget to go to work and do something useful.

“The fact is that it’s not how we look in the outside world, but how we find happiness in ourselves.”

“Remember, comparison is generally the fast track to unhappiness.

He went on to say that if we stopped comparing ourselves to others, we would live a happy life.

“That’s the truth, if we be honest with ourselves and live happy lives and stop comparing (yourself to others) - that would be a great help to the world that we are living in.

“We need to live and see how we can help ourselves - as the saying goes if we can’t help ourselves first then there’s hardly anyone else to help us.

Steve wants to make good use of his time while he’s still young.

“My parents passed away few years ago and I thank God for those who have helped in my journey these days.

“Not only my loves but those who see the best in me.

“They’ve helped me to live and enjoy life to the best of my ability and they have taught me a lot.

“I thank them for taking care of me and teaching me not to stop worrying about others but live my life to the fullest and always remember to put my trust in the Lord for He’s Everything.”
