Deal to screen Chinese TV Series
China’s Ambassador in Samoa, Weng Xuefeng and the Chief Executive Officer of the Samoa Quality Broadcasting Company, Galumalemana Faiesea Matafeo, signed a license agreement yesterday to begin the broadcast of two Chinese Drama Series on TV1.
The signing for the series titled “Doudou and Her Mothers in Law” and “Mr Jin’s Happy Family” was held at Vailima yesterday. The series will be on Monday, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
During the signing, Mr. Weng Xuefeng said the TV series are extremely popular in China and they are also being shown all over the world including continents like Africa.
“These two series are all about the life of the ordinary people of China so it will help our Samoan friends to understand the Chinese people and China better,” he said.
In response, Galumalemana acknowledged China’s support for Samoa and her TV network.
“We are very appreciative of the fact that C.C.T.V and C.R.I China have been helping us for many years and we have worked together in many ways,” she said.
“We cannot deny the fact that the Chinese people have had a very big influence and impact on our political and economic development and the signing today is just an extension of what is already being taken place between Samoa and China and of course between TV1 and its counterparts in China.”
The C.E.O went on to say that the two countries do have a lot in common when it comes to culture and the importance of family.
“I am sure that our audience will appreciate watching the programme and learning also not only about China but also seeing ourselves and the social problems that we also do face here in Samoa because we are very similar in culture and especially when it comes to family-orientated culture,” she said.
“So I am very happy to receive and sign this contract and I hope that our audience will enjoy it.”

Doudou and her Mothers in Law -
