Fa’asipa Toleafoa from Patamea and Vaitele is a hardworking father.

Aged 50, Fa’asipa works in town to provide for his family.

“This is my life, work, work, work,” he said.

“I know that sacrificing time for my family especially my children is the way to get through any hurdles in this life.”

Faasipa is a father of four. Two of them are working and two remain in school.

But it doesn’t stop him from doing what he does.

“They’re the reason I work every day. This is for them because I love my children.

“Yes, life is quite hard nowadays but as a father, I don’t want to sit around and do nothing, I have to go to work.”

He went on to say that the high cost of living continues to increase in Samoa.

“Personally, with the cost of living, 99% of people in Samoa are struggling and my family is no exception.

“No one can see our tears in our eyes and heart when we love our children, when we want them to become better people in the future, we want them to do good in life.

“I think this is the only way to tackle the problem that we face every day with the cost of living. I think education is the key.”

For Faasipa, he said complaining about the government doesn’t do anything.

“I tell you, no matter how hard we try to voice this to the government, no one seems to care.

“This is why I know the only solution is to keep on working.

“No matter how much I get, I want to keep going, because at the same time , I want to set an example for my children to strive for the best.”

After all, these days aren’t easy anymore.

“That means – no matter how significant or little we get, I want to make sure to put in for our family,” says the father.

“I also want to encourage parents that this life is all about working together and keep on believing, this is a reflection of  real love to our family.

“As I’ve mentioned earlier, no matter how tired and sick I am most of the times, my love for my children and my family give me strength to keep on going.”
