The Tautua Samoa Party is likely to field a team of close to 80 candidates for the General Elections.

Although the number is still being finalised – and it could decrease or increase – there was strong support at the Party’s headquarters on Friday night.

The occasion was a meeting for potential candidates to register their interest as well as an opportunity to meet the Party’s leadership.

The Party’s Secretary, Lilomaiava Dr. Ken Lameta, told the Sunday Samoan that 78 candidates have already signed up.

He expects the number to increase because a number of potential candidates did not turn up on Friday night.

“We also have some members from Savai’i who were not able to make it,” Lilomaiava said.

The Party Secretary added that they are looking to announce all their candidates on 19 February at the E.F.K.S Hall.

The occasion will also be used to launch their manifesto.

On Friday, the atmosphere at the Tautua Samoa Party’s gathering was festive and relaxed.

Leader Palusalue Fa’apo II addressed the gathering with the support of his deputy, Aeau Dr. Peniamina Leavai.
