No one has been charged in relation to a dispute between two Chinese retail businesses two weeks ago, where a Chinese businessman and his parents were allegedly attacked.

This was confirmed by the Police Spokesperson, Superintendent Su’a Muliaga Tiumalu.

He said the Police have launched an investigation into the matter and part of it includes the determination of whether Samoans were involved in the attack.

Su’a told the Sunday Samoan that an allegation has been made that Samoans were pressured into taking part. He did not elaborate except to say that their investigation is continuing.

The row involves two Chinese retail businesses known as Princessa Shop and Country Shop.

It is alleged that the dispute started over competition for customers.

Owner of Country Shop, Wilson Fang was allegedly attacked along with his parents at Vaitele.

When the owner of Princessa, Chen Chan, was asked for a comment he said nothing happened.

“This is between the Chinese, not Samoans. No Samoans were involved or hurt.”
