Last Saturday, a celebration was held at the Esera residence in Vaimoso to celebrate Kasandra Salamasina Le Tafa’ifa Vegas’ academic and sporting achievements.

She has graduated from the University of Sydney in Australia with a Masters degree in International Public Health and won several medals in the recent Oceania games in the discus and hammer throw.

Family, friends, village members and church ministers were present at the event. Reverend Amosa Reupena, of E.F.K.S Vaimoso, conducted a short service to bless the celebrations. Athletics Samoa presented Kasandra, her family and village with certificates on behalf of Oceania Athletics Association in honour of her achievements in athletics (discus throw).

This was presented by Athletics Samoa Board member Fiu Mesepi Sialaoa, the newly appointed Judge for the Land and Titles Court.

Kasandra’s family also presented a trophy to Kasandra’s local coach, Tupai Vaovai and the President of Athletics Samoa and A.C.E.O of Ministry of Sports, Luatua Seumanutafa Semi Epati for their contribution to the development of athletics in Samoa. Here are some photos from the gathering.
