The joining of two different cultures in holy matrimony brought Jane Wiki, from Northland, New Zealand to Samoa.

The 62-year-old flew into Samoa with a group of 30 people and they arrived on Monday this week for her niece’s wedding.

“My niece is Maori and soon to be married to a Samoan groom at Taumeasina Island Resort,” she said.

“Ever since we arrived we have been travelling back and forth between hotels due to so many wedding preparations.”

“It is my first time in Samoa and I do admit that it is quite beautiful here,” Jane said.

She said Samoa is quite hot but it is just lovely compared to how cold New Zealand is.

Jane said they experienced a bit of the culture in Samoa through entertainments, like the Samoan traditional dances and songs.

“I also got the chance to taste the seafood here and it is my favourite so far. Samoa is unique due to its people being very friendly and hospitable; it is the ideal holiday destination.”

“We are only here for a week so we are trying to make the most of it, tomorrow (today) we will be going to the To Sua Trench to witness such a beautiful natural landmark.”

“I am more excited about the white sandy beaches and the clear blue ocean. It feels so relaxing in Samoa, especially with the laid back lifestyle they have here.”

Jane said another new experience she looks forward to is going to the groom’s family for a Sunday feast.

“I can just escape to Samoa and clear my mind and unwind, it is a hidden paradise with so many exciting new places to explore. It is true what they say that Samoa is the Pearl of the Pacific,” she added.

Jane looks forward to returning someday.
