Taleni kids prefer Savai’i

The Taleni family was busy snapping pictures of each other in the middle of Fugalei markets when Dear Tourist offered to take a group picture of the whole family for their collection.

Dear Tourist got chatting to mamabear Jane who is a native of Christchurch and we hear that the family had just returned from Savai’i where they spent the majority of their two week holiday

“We had a family reunion in Savaii and this is the end of our trip,” said Jane. “We are just in Apia for three days before we go back home and we’re staying at Aggie Grey’s so we can go places on foot.  We mainly stayed in Savai’I to be closer to my husband’s family and they are the main reason we come visit here.“

Jane’s young daughter adds: “We stayed at our grandma’s village and we got to go swimming with the turtles, and it was great. We fed them pawpaw.

Her brothers joined in: “We got to do some snorkeling at Vaisala beach resort. The beaches are beautiful and I prefer Savai’i because it’s cleaner and more natural.”

The family has been back to Samoa a couple of times and each time it gets a little bit harder for them to leave.

Hiram added: “The best part was catching up with family; swimming in the beach it’s really nice. I’d consider living here,” he laughs.

Meanwhile Mum Jane was giving him the look that said “oh really?”

The family says that one of the most challenging things about Samoa is the heat and walking around Apia at noon was taking a toll on them so they were going to make their way towards headquarters based at the Sheraton.

“The heat is challenging,” said Jane. “It’s nice when you’re swimming but when you are walking around town it’s really hot. We’re going to finish off looking at the market and go back to the hotel and have a swim.”
