The Vaimauga Eels continued its undefeated run in the Super 9 yesterday, beating the Tornadoes of Falealili and Siumu, 33 -19.

It was a hard fought battle for the previously undefeated teams. With the Eels win, they now top the table after Round 3 of the competition.

Te’o Fata Lemauai said it was a tough game.

Both teams started off slow in the first half.

The unpredictable weather conditions resulted in multiple handling errors from both teams.

Eel’s captain Patrick Faapale converted four penalties for his side, while Tornado’s converted 3 of their own from their kicker, Togipo.

First half points were all from penalties kick, Eels 12 to Tornadoes 9.

Second half saw Eel’s changing the rhythm in their plays, using their heavy forward pack runners to break through.

This opened the space for winger Hugo Fata to touchdown for the first try of the match.

The Eels maintained their momentum and won two more penalties, and another try from their second five Ionatana.

The Tornadoes came back with a late penalty and a 75th minute try, but it wasn’t good enough.
