Meet Georgia Tippett.
The 18-year-old is from New Zealand. She chose Samoa as a destination to relax after completing her school exams.
And to her, it’s been the perfect choice before the pressure of school kicks in again.
Georgia was enjoying her meal by the Taumeasina Island Resort poolside when the Dear Tourist team met her.
She is in Samoa with her parents and yesterday was their last day on the island.
“Coming here was really good because we just had exams and it was really stressful, being here I don’t really have to think of anything. I get to refresh,” she said.
“We spent most of our time in the resort; we did not go out quite as much, which was low-key. I really enjoyed the snorkelling trips because I got to swim with the turtles in the ocean.
“It was really nice and the ocean was super clear. We have not been here before, so we decided to come and try it out.”
They were in Samoa for nine days.
“We spent six days in Savai’i then came to Upolu. We travelled to the islands every few years usually during the time of winter. We have been to Vanuatu and Fiji.
“I have heard a lot of good things from my friends about Samoa.”
For her, the most significant part of her trip was the To Sua Ocean Trench and it was a good experience for her to see the trench by herself.
“I really enjoyed going to To Sua Ocean Trench. It was really cool because I get to finally see it in person, so many people posting photos of it.
“It looked exactly how it is in the photos. It seemed safe when I was going on the ladder, even though it was a bit scary and quite slippery and it was fun.
“It is really nice here and everything looks presentable. Mostly everywhere there are so many really nice plants. You could tell that people made an effort to plant it in front of their houses.”
She highlighted the friendly nature of the locals.
“They are really nice and welcoming, which has been really good. We have been able to see the fiafia night; it was really cool seeing the culture.”
Georgia will definitely revisit Samoa.
