Report writing a key skill for participants

The Office of the Public Service Commission has conducted a 4 half day training session  on Report Writing on Monday 26th – Thursday 29th June 2017. Ms. Sarona Esera, ACEO for Human Resource Development Division in her opening remarks thank the participants for availing their time to participate in the training.

She also stated that the report writing training was conducted, as a response to the need of government officials to be able to produce excellent and accurate reports for decision making within their respective organisation.

Fourteen participants were invited from Government Corporations who participated in the training enhancing their report writing skills with key themes including:

• Explaining how to adapt to your audiences when writing reports

• Explain and demonstrate knowledge on procedures for report writing

• Demonstrate knowledge on different types of report structure

• To produce a written report

The calibre of participants that attended the training included senior and officers level staff members who are involved in producing reports within their organisations. Some had written reports while others assist in collating information and documents to produce reports. Participants were appreciative of the opportunity to participate in the training and below presented how these participants will transfer the knowledge learned.

 

The participants will:

• share the knowledge learned from the training to their colleagues in writing accurate, clear, concise and well structure reports

• use relevant report structures(format) learned from the training to write reports for their internal and external customers 

• applied the new knowledge and skills in writing efficient office reports as tasked to them

Mr. Samuelu Puleiata of the Samoa Water Authority delivered a thank you note on behalf of the participants.

He acknowledged the Office of the Public Service Commission for the opportunity given through trainings enabling them to build up their capacity to perform effectively in their workplaces. He also stated that this training has provided an opening door to create a network among themselves as participants in sharing new ideas on report writing.

The training was delivered by Faafetai Vaevaina (Principal Human Resource and Planning Officer).

Mrs. Angela Palu – Phineas (Principal Training & Development Consultant) in the presentation of certificates congratulates the participants and remind them again of the important of transferring the knowledge and skills learned from the training to their colleagues and its application to their daily office work activities.
