Leanne Russell found herself in Samoa accompanying her partner and some friends on a golf tour.
Leanne lives in Christchurch, New Zealand.
“The others are playing golf and I am going to sit in the sun and relax. I am okay to just sit by the poolside and read my book,” Leeanne said.
It is her first time to Samoa. She has been to Fiji, Niue, Vanuatu, Tahiti and Rarotonga.
It is mostly the sun that attracts her to this part of the world, especially this time of the year when it is very cold in New Zealand.
“When we left Christchurch it was about seven degrees back home and it may snow. Here it is so hot here and it’s lovely.”
“It’s a golf trip they do and I don’t really like golf but I wanted to come to enjoy the sun here. I have been to a few islands around here and I enjoyed that so here I am,” she shared with Dear Tourist.
Despite Samoa not being advertised often in New Zealand, many of her friends have been here and recommended the island to her.
“A lot of friends told me to come here and I really wanted to come.”
“I have been to other resorts during my stay on other islands, but I see this resort (Taumeasina Island Resort) here is really nice. It seems to be quite new. I am just really impressed with this modern one here it looks brand new to me.”
“It has been interesting the ride to the resort. I understand that this is probably not the authentic side, how the locals live here.”
“What I remember from the other islands, there haven’t been so many traffic lights. It is quite a difference from the airport, where it seems to be quite underdeveloped and then you come near the city and see all the traffic lights,” Leanne said.
Leanne plans to explore a bit more of the other side of the island.
“It is very pretty here. The staff members are really nice and helpful,” she said.
She said she looks forward to the next few days in Samoa.
