Elisara Fotuaava, of Alamagoto, is a grateful man.
Last week, he received a bike from the Li’aifaiva Malofie Group costing US$1,200 (T$3,075.51).
The bike was presented to him by the President of the Li’aifaiva Malofie Group, Li’aifaiva Imo Levi.
Speaking to the Samoa Observer, he said he did not know Li’aifaiva in person but he was shocked when he was given the bike.
“It’s a gift that is very expensive,” he said.
“I guess they must have seen me walking everywhere I go, even going to get some meamata (taro and bananas) from the market I would walk.”
“I never go by car and I think they must have seen me so they gifted me this.”
“I want to thank them for this great gift. He is one of the most famous tufuga in Samoa.”
“They have spent a lot just to get me this bike to help me get from place to place instead of walking everywhere.”
“He told me that they have always seen me walk even coming to work I would walk and when I finish work I would walk so they have gone out of their way to get me this great gift.”
“It’s a beautiful gift and it’s expensive as well.”
He added his prayers have been answered.
“God has answered my prayers because I don’t have much money to buy a car but I have always prayed to God to provide me with a car or a bike so that I can get around instead of walking,” he said.
“And I guess the Lord has answered my prayers by sending Li’aifaiva with this bike and I am so grateful.”
“Even my wife and children are happy because they felt sorry and worried for me every time I walk anywhere especially at night.”
Li’aifaiva said the whole purpose of the gift was to give back to the community.
“Elisara is a hardworking person and we always see him walk everywhere especially to his job so we thought he deserves this gift and we know that he will take good care of this bike,” he said.
“It’s people like him who we want to help because they are very hardworking people.”
“It’s just something to help him out and it’s a brand new bike and he deserves it.”
