S.E.I. injects $2,000 to Think Pink Breast Cancer Appeal

As organiser and host of the Miss Samoa Pageant for three consecutive years starting in 2016, it is most fitting for the Samoa Events Incorporated (S.E.I) to play a leading role in the Think Pink Cancer Appeal.

Foremost, S.E.I applauds the initiative by the brainchild of the event, from LIFE-Con Explosion which has united the reigning Miss Samoa and the past Miss Samoas and Miss Pacific Islands to the Samoa Cancer Society for launching this worthy and lifesaving event.

It would be amiss for S.E.I not to join the appeal and also to hail a courageous mother, aunty, cousin and niece who has stepped up as the icon of the drive to raise public awareness against Breast Cancer.

She is none other than, Manamea Apelu Tuiletufuga Saaga Schwalger, a former Miss Samoa and Miss South Pacific.

Her bravery and courage to be the face of the appeal based on the theme “Beyond Treatment.” Calls for our support!” says a thousand words.

Fighting to survive, Manamea is dedicating her time not only to raise awareness but also to ensure that future cancer patients have the resources to fight this dreaded disease.

It’s on that note that S.E.I is honored to donate $2,000 to the cause.

S.E.I represents a dedicated and committed group of students who were educated through Apia Infants to Leififi Intermediate and went their separate ways to attend respective colleges here and abroad but graduated in 1981.

And more than 30 years later, we hosted a successful reunion in Samoa in 2015.

And believe it or not, among S.E.I’s members are former Miss Samoa Pageant contestants. Ivy Warner claimed the crown while attending Samoa College. And then Lemalu Lina Slade Palamo, in 1984 and went on to represent our country in the Miss Universe Pageant held in Florida, the United States.

And we have our very own Monette Meredith Hill, a contestant in the 1981 Miss Samoa Pageant.

On that note, our measly donation represents S.E.I’s commitment to play its part and this is one of the main community outreach programs, which S.E.I is committed to because we remain firm on our resolve that Cancer does not discriminate.
