A storm in a teacup

Dear Editor,

I wouldn't describe an inter school juvenile delinquent behaviour by angry directionless school kids as cowardice behaviour by any means.

It is, however, juvenile delinquency, regardless.

From a social worker and police work perspective, however, an incitement of such behaviour must be curbed obviously.

But what needs to be identified is the root cause of this incitement in the first place.

Identify the ring leaders and the perpetrators be rounded up, disciplinary procedures be issued, including expelling of malcontent pupils involved in the fracas.

Moreover, their parents must also be answerable and accountable for their children’s actions. Even to a point whereby criminal proceedings against their charges, might also be applied to their parents and guardians as well.

They must be held to account for the actions of their children.

It seems plain as day that the root cause of many civil unrest is a culmination of social dysfunctionalism, boredom, a lack of clarity in scholarly objectives for many school children.

From an Australian perspective, the Avele College and Maluafou College's childish scrap is nothing more than a storm in a teacup.

The question that comes to mind, are the Samoans not satisfied and elated with their Under 20's world cup rugby victories?
