In support of chicken tax

Re: Tax on chicken editorial

As harsh as it seems, lets consider the long term health impact of consuming an animal that has been genetically engineered to mature abnormally fast and with hormones, antibiotics and recycled animals as feed, we are reminded of the old adage, that “you are what you eat”.

Health should be taken seriously and a tax on an unhealthy food is a start.

Weigh up the costs and see for yourself.

We the consumers still have the choice to consume alternatives, healthier alternatives. You only have to look at the increase in diabetes for example, to realise how our food choices matter.

And if people still cannot make the better choice, then perhaps a tax is the incentive for making a change in diet.

We’ve become too complacent as consumers, relying on producers to produce cheaper food, but at what costs?

Cost to the animals, in this case the chickens, which is the most consumed and persecuted bird, as well as the cost to the lives of the consumer, with diet related diseases. Eat wisely, spend longer alive...
