The new Member of Parliament for Falealili West, Aumua Isaia Lameko, appeared in the District Court yesterday.

Represented by lawyer, Leiataualesa Jerry Brunt, Aumua appeared before Judge Leiataualesa Daryl Clarke. He is facing a charge of negligent driving causing injury.

Lawyer, Leuluaiali’i Malama, appeared on behalf of the National Prosecution Office and asked for a one-week adjournment for them to review the charge against the Member of Parliament.

Judge Leiataualesa accepted the application and adjourned the matter until 12 April 2016 without plea. Aumua is remanded at liberty.

The Media Officer of the Ministry of Police, Maotaoalii Kaioneta Kitiona said the charge follows an incident involving Aumua prior to the General Election on 4 March 2016.

The incident occurred on 29 January 2016 at Malaemalu, involving an eight-year-old female pedestrian.
