A night of dance and entertainment heralded the arrival of the New Year at Safata.

The gathering, held at Tafitoala, also provided choir members who had drifted away a chance to renew their membership.

The event started with a short prayer by Reverend Siaosi Moananu who reminded the youth that these gatherings should be a fun activity.

He thanked God for his love and care as they reached the first day of 2016.

Then M.C. Pepe Viiga welcomed the guests and the whole village who were there to support the programme

Chairman of the choir, Taulima Itumalo said the gathering was a way of bringing everyone together to celebrate the New Year.

“Many members have been inactive,” he said “but this gathering will be able to bring them in again.”

The choir was divided into two groups and they had to perform traditional dances, island dances and traditional skits.
