The Tulolo, Maiava and Tulua family welcomed 20 new chiefs.

Held at Sataoa, Safata, yesterday morning, the ceremony was well attended by the Village Council and family members of the new chiefs.

Among the new title holders is Tulolo Kirita, ASCO Motors Manager, who is thrilled to be a part of her family as a chief.

New Zealand born Tulolo Kirita lives in Apia with her husband, Heinz Langkilde To’omalatai, and their children.

“Samoa is all about serving the family and if you don’t have that mindset then you don’t belong here.

“It’s always good to return to your roots and serve.

“Growing up as a Samoan in New Zealand, my heart has always been in Samoa even though I haven’t been here yet (at the time) and of course marrying a Samoan has always been my dream.

“But most especially returning here to serve my family and I am most honoured to be asked to carry one of our family’s chiefly titles, especially being a female.

“I couldn’t be happier that everything that I have ever wanted is all coming to pass for me and my family,” she told the Samoa Observer.

Those who were bestowed the high chief title of Tulolo are Tulolo Talaiasi, Tulolo Samuelu, Tulolo Lotovale, Tulolo Faagu, Tulolo Sagalala, Tulolo Poliko and Tulolo Kirita.
