P.M. announces fuel price increases for December

PR - Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Finance, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi has advised that the following changes in retail petroleum products prices for December.

He has announced increases in the retail prices for petrol by 11 sene from $2.30 to $2.41 per litre, for diesel by 14 sene from $2.23 to $2.37 per litre and for kerosene by 12 sene from $1.90 to $2.02 per litre.

Crude and Refined Products prices have continued to rise following the potential deal between OPEC and its members and Russia to reduce crude oil production.

Singapore prices MOPS have now risen by US $25.00 / bbl since the low point in February US$ 37.00 / bbl to the latest high recorded in October of U$ 62.00/ bbl.

Samoa’s current prices are based on October MOPS. This pressure on prices may be eased over the coming months as Iranian oil re-enters the supply chain at pre-sanction levels and Iraq seeks to increase its production to find reconstruction in the country.
