Aana No. 2 wins Zone D
Aana No. 2 College claimed the bragging rights at Apia Park yesterday during the Zone D College Athletics competition, with the school being declared the overall winners.
Second place went to Wesley College while Safata College secured third place.
Nine schools were scheduled to take part but Leulumoega Fou College and Nu’uausala College withdrew leaving seven schools to battle it out.
Reverend Amosa Tapua’i, the President of Zone D, said the competition yesterday was carried out under very good spirits and the athletes are now ready for the Champ of Champs.
He said Safata College, A’ana College, Paul VI, Sagaga College are schools to look out for in the future with lots of potential.
“Another positive result of today’s competition was having one of Wesley College’s team members, Jordan Viliamu, who recently represented Samoa in the Oceania Athletics in Fiji,” he said.
“It’s not a small achievement but this reflects the hard work that’s gone into developing these young talents.”
Rev. Kuka said the schools competition is extremely important as it allows the young athletes to develop their talents for bigger and better competitions in the future.
“I believe that there are future representatives of Samoa competing in zone D today,” he said.
Aana No. 2 celebrated their sweet victory yesterday.
Given that it was the first time they have won, Rev. Kuka congratulated the school, students, parents and all their supporters.
