The Government awarded cash bonuses to Samoa’s 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games medallists in recognition of their great achievements.
Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi gave the keynote address acknowledging the medallists, athletes as well as the coaches and travelling staff that accompanied the team for the outstanding results Samoa achieved at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
Gold medalists Feagaiga Stowers and Sanele Mao each received $20,000 cash bonuses whilst their coach, Tuaopepe Jerry Wallwork received $10,000.
Although the sports bonus policy only covers Gold medals, the Government also acknowledged the outstanding performances from the silver medallists; Ato Plodzicki Faoagali, Don Opeloge and Lauititi Lui. They each received $4,000 for their efforts.
