In welcoming the New Year, P.L.T & Mel, a family owned business, is looking to improve their automotive service.

For three years, the business, located at Lotopa, has been making progress and has continued to make their vehicle parts affordable for the public.

“The tyres are one thing that people are mostly looking for, which is why I am always short on tyres because the prices I sell my tyres in are very affordable, $80 below. Since we were in the season of happiness, this is our way of giving back to our customers,” Lonetona Lepa, who looks after the business said.

Lonetona said he is certain that most businesses had recorded an increase in sales, but he says we are coming to an end of relaxation and heading back to reality.

“I know that a lot of people have been spending money during this festive season so the sales during this time will be slow. The season where the sale will rise is from the middle of the year towards the end.”

He mentioned that their car parts are supplied by his brother who lives in Australia.

The business, Lonetona said, was also a good source of income for his family since only him and his brother worked there.

P.L.T & Mel  Auto Shop started from their grandmother’s house at Vaitele-Uta. P.L.T stands for Paseka Lepa Tu’u.

In loving memory of their grandmother, they established a business and named it after her.

“Growing up we have seen our grandmother writing P.L.T. everywhere on her sheets, the towels that my different uncles and aunties buy her. Anything new she received, she would write her name and the date she got it.

“She is somebody who is very unforgettable and my older brother who raised the initiative to create this business is very attached to her, she raised him and he is a mechanic. All these things basically point back to her and her silent prayers.”
