Burst pipe causes flooding

An underground water pump pipe burst at Maugafiafia Vailele yesterday left a flood running down the road.

It was not clear what caused the broken pipe but thousands of litres of water were wasted from around 6am going on to after 9pm.

The water pump situated on the land of Tapaau Faatasi is usually turned on when the water ratio in the village is low.

According to the mother, no one could have broken the underground pipe as it was buried down deep.

“I woke up in the morning and I thought it was a car that was making all that sound,” said Mrs. Faatasi.

“I came outside and saw it was the underground water pipe and my husband had gone to work and reported the matter with Samoa Water Authority.

“The workers turn on the pump occasionally but I’m not sure what caused the outburst this morning.”

When the Samoa Observer arrived yesterday the S.W.A. had gone to turn off the main switch of the pump. It was not possible to get an official comment from the Authority.
