New woman at the helm at Qualifications Authority

The Samoa Qualifications Authority (S.Q.A) has officially welcomed its new Chief Executive Officer.

She is Letuimanu’asina Dr. Emma Kruse Va’ai.

She started on Wednesday 1st November, 2017 and she was welcomed during an ava ceremony.

The celebration began with a prayer led by S.Q.A Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Taua Molia Taioalo, at the S.Q.A conference room, T.A.T.T.E Building Sogi. 

S.Q.A Chairperson, Gatoloaifa’ana Tilianamua Afamasaga and Board Member, Fua Meki Hazelman were also there to welcome her.

In her welcome remarks, Gatoloaifa’ana extended the Board of Directors’ good wishes and God’s blessings for the successful continuation of the work of the Authority. 

In response, Letuimanu’asina thanked the staff and Board of S.Q.A for their warm welcome.

“I express my heartfelt gratitude for the trust and confidence place upon me to lead this organization,” said the C.E.O. 

“I can only do this with the help of God and the support of the Board and the staff. I firmly believe that team work is important to achieve our goals.”

Letuimanu’asina also acknowledged the outstanding work by former C.E.Os of S.Q.A; the late Fepuleai Sinapi Moli and Lemalu Lafi Sanerivi.

Prior to her appointment as the S.Q.A C.E.O, she was Professor of English and Applied Linguistics at the N.U.S. Faculty of Education. 

She was also the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the National University of Samoa and Deputy C.E.O and Academic Director of the Samoa Polytechnic before this institution was merged with the National University. 

She is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand and the University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia.
